Methamphetamine labs are a growing problem in the US. More and more meth labs are being discovered in houses, apartments, offices, motel rooms, or even motor homes. Over 1,045 labs were seized in the state of Missouri alone by either federal, state or local authorities in 2014, and this number is growing every year.
It is common knowledge that meth and it’s byproducts are a health hazard and that the production or smoking of methamphetamine coats a film of toxic chemicals onto the surrounding surfaces. Contact by humans and pets is inevitable just be touching or rubbing up against these contaminated areas. Babies, small children and the elderly are especially at risk from exposure to carpets and furniture that has been exposed to meth smoking.
The toxins enter the body via the skin, nose and mouth and reactions to the exposure include respiratory problems, behavioral problems with children and weight control issues with pregnant women. Chemical exposure can last for long periods of time even if meth smoking has stopped in the home as the residue remains in the porous surfaces in the surroundings.
Meth Remediators is dedicated to educating the public about the harmful risks of living in a home that has been exposed to the toxins of meth use. More to come soon!
